Dhikr After Salah – Authentic Remembrance After Prayer

Learn the established remembrances recited after the five daily prayers, with references and a simple routine to help you remain present after completing Salah.

    Why remember Allah after Salah?

The end of prayer is not the end of worship. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught specific words of remembrance after the obligatory prayers, including seeking forgiveness, praising Allah and glorifying Him.

Keep the post-prayer routine calm and consistent. The purpose is to follow the Sunnah and remember Allah, not to compete over speed or numbers.

    A concise Sunnah routine

After saying salam, begin with Astaghfirullah three times, then say the established supplication: Allahumma antas-salam wa minkas-salam, tabarakta ya dhal-jalali wal-ikram (Sahih Muslim 591).

    • Say SubhanAllah 33 times
    • Say Alhamdulillah 33 times
    • Say Allahu Akbar 33 times
    • Complete one hundred with La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamd wa huwa ala kulli shay'in qadir (Sahih Muslim 597)

    Using a counter respectfully

A digital counter can help someone keep track, especially when learning. It is only an aid; fingers are preferred in the Sunnah narration and the reward is from sincere remembrance, not from the tool used to count.
